KVDA donates protective gears to curb COVID-19 in Noreb counties.
Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has donated face masks and hand washing booths worth Ksh.3 million to be distributed within North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) Counties.
The KVDA Managing Director Sammy Naporos said the donation to the NOREB counties, will ensure people of North Rift are safe.
“This is phase one as we wait for additional one worth about Ksh.6 million which is through KVDA and other partners targeting certain counties to control and prevent Covid-19 pandemic” MD said
He said that KVDA is partnering with County Governments and other Government agencies to ensure that people of North rift are getting the protective gears as a way of containing the spread of corona virus.
The MD appealed to other well wishers to follow suit in supporting the Government to deal with the pandemic.
Speaking while receiving the masks, Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago applauded the KVDA adding that they will target the elderly in the society.
“We want to appreciate KVDA for the donations. This is a good gesture of making sure that our region is prevented. We are already in discussion with my colleague governors and because we have a good number of aged in our county, we have decided that these masks will be distributed to those who are 60 years and above to make sure we take care of our old generation” Mandago said
The NOREB chairman asked Kenyans to put their hands together into the preventive measures, so as to be able to deal with Covid-19 pandemic within a very short time.
“We want to continue to ask all other players like Government entities, private entities, individuals and farmers to come together and put our resources together and be able to prevent this pandemic” NOREB chair said.
He therefore, insists that all donations will be coordinated by the County Commissioner and the County Government adding that National Cereals and Produce Board will provide a store where all the donations will be stored and picked from to make sure that any donation is distributed while respecting the directives put in place.
