Give dialogue a chance teacher’s union urged.
The education stakeholders in Nandi implored teachers’ union to give dialogue a chance to resolve their issues with the government.
They raised their fears over the fate of form four students who are set to sit for their national exams and claimed that the prevailing industrial strikes would interfere with the learning progress in schools.
Zaccious Rop, the founder of Hokil Foundation urged Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) to alternatively present their grievances and give time to the government to deliver on their demands.
“KUPPET has raised their pertinent issues and there should be a structured framework to address them. The government has already called for negotiation and there is no reason for teachers to down their tools at the expense of our children,” he stated.
Mr Rop further urged the parents to prepare their children as they embark on their studies for their final term.
“This is a crucial term for learners considering that the candidates are preparing for KCSE. I am hoping that the teachers will resolve their issues and learning will resume in our schools,” he said.
