Kapsabet MCA threatens mass protest over dry taps.

Kapsabet ward representative Fred Kipkemboi has threatened to lead a demonstration to castigate water company as taps in town run dry for three days.

The MCA gave Kapsabet Nandi Water and Sanitation company an ultimatum of three days to ensure they provide water to the residents.

Speaking at the county assembly Fred said he does not understand how an entire town can stay without water for more than two days yet residents are paying their bills.

“If they will not ensure that we have water I will have a meeting with the business people and the residents of Kapsabet to plan how we will demonstrate,” said Fred.

He accused some officials of the county for negligence saying they are watching as locals are suffering from lack of services.

“I want to ask Governor Stephen Sang to recheck his executive members some are just passing their time instead of helping his administration,” He said.

Kipkemboi said it was unfortunate that locals could not access water at the time hygiene was being emphasized due to Covid-19 pandemic.

He observed that the water being ferried by vendors using donkeys were not treated and could lead to contamination and possible outbreak of waterborne diseases.

“The water from the vendors is not treated and the dealers are not certified by health office,” he said.
