Uasin gishu Bodaboda operators warned for flouting Coronavirus restrictions.
Boda boda operators and other residents in Uasin Gishu who defies the directive of putting on face mask in public places have been warned.
Speaking in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa has warned bodaboda operators that they will be banned from operating for flouting COVID-19 regulations insisting that the operators are required to wear masks at all times and to carry only one passanger at a time. He said the regulations were not being adhered to.
Jaldesa said that since the regulation was put in place, most of Bodaboda operators in the county are not adhering to them. He warned that those who will be found doing contrary will face the full force of the law since they will be violating the Ministry of Health’s regulations on curbing covid-19.
“If you disobey the directives given, you will be arrested and charged. We will not watch while you endanger the lives of kenyans. We might even be forced to take your bodaboda until further notice” Jaldesa warned.
He also put on notice the passengers avoiding putting on masks that the legal action will be taken against them.
The County security boss asked every citizen to be responsible to ensure that the virus which has so far infected 208 Kenyans, is contained and does not spread further by adhering to the directives given by the government.
