KNCCI to lead Uasin Gishu candidates in signing peace accord.

Plans are in pipeline for the signing of peace accord for a peace election by Uasin Gishu candidates.

The exercise will be led by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Uasin Gishu chapter.

The members of the KNCCI who were speaking in Eldoret led by their chairman Willy Kenei, said it will be an official agreement which will ensure there will be peace and cohesion before, during and after the August General Elections adding that the platform will help in putting leaders to be accountable in their leadership.

“We will bring all the aspirants from the parties and independent candidates on June 15, to come and sign a peace accord and to sign a manifesto where we will make sure they are accountable after being elected in August Elections” Kenei noted

Kenei said that there is need for any leader to embrace peace especially during this period adding that conflicts undermines peaceful co-existence of communities and discourages investors who would have contributed to the general development of the County and country at large.

Therefore, he said that the platform will help in giving hopes to the investors and also the residents.

Kenei who is also the chairman of Uasin Gishu Business Community, further emphasized the need to have a lasting peace to avoid instilling fear among the residents and reiterated that insecurity chases away the local investors and potential ones from outside the county and the country at large.

At the same time, Rev. Grace Rugut from National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) and Mohammed Karma from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) said they will use the platform to change the narrative that Uasin Gishu county is a hotspot area during electioneering period.

They further stated that the leaders will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on service delivery once elected for the advancement of the nation.
