Drama as county officials locked out of full house committee meeting in Nandi County Assembly.

Drama ensued at the Nandi County Assembly when some officials were ejected from a full house committee meeting.

Among the officials forced out of the meeting on supplementary budget included Meshack Malakwen, the chief officer for finance, who was accused by the committee of not not paying Sh300,000 fine.

Chief Officer for roads Jonah Biwott, roads director David Kemei and procurement officer for education Dennis Korir were also kicked out for being strangers in the house since they had been recommended to be relieved duties.

Committee member and Ollesos ward representative Emmanuel Mengeech said the officials had acted rudely by joining the meeting yet they had not paid the fine and the Assembly is not informed of their basis of resumption of duty.

“By failing to honour the directives of the assembly, they had no business to be heard,”Mengech.

Terik ward MCA Osborn Komen added,” It is a mark of arrogance and impunity for them to attend the meeting when they have not cleared their names.”
