Nandi first class ICT graduate takes own life after failing to secure employment.
A family in Nandi is mourning the death of their son who mysteriously took his own life after failing to secure job opportunities.
The body of Michael Kibet was found on Wednesday morning hanging on a tree within his brother’s compound in Lelwak village where had been staying after graduating in 2021.
According to the deceased family members Kibet had experienced mental problems which they attributed to his failure to get employment after attending a series of interviews in the recent past.
Isaac Kemboi, one of the deceased relatives narrated that Kibet, 26, who had brilliantly excelled from Jomo Kenyatta University by getting first class honor in ICT and Telecommunication degree, complained that his qualifications were not considered whenever he was shortlisted for interview.
“He (Kibet) was always hopeful that he would get a job that would enable him to support his humble family but he sounded dejected and stopped applying for any job opportunities,” he stated.
When Kibet realized that all attempts to get employment were not forthcoming, he thought of travelling abroad to further his education and he successfully got admission from one of the Universities in Australia.
He acquired a travelling passport document and he was supposed to sit for the final English test examination in July before he is given a green light to proceed with his studies in the foreign land.
“Probably lack of money could hinder his travel to pursue his dreams early next year and maybe it is the reason as to why he suddenly took his life,” said Kemboi.
Kibet’s body was found lifelessly dangling on a tree, bleeding blood from the neck and mouth.
The police picked the body and took to the morgue as Nandi Hills Sub County Police Commander Francis Omulo confirmed that the deceased committed suicide, claiming that the deceased did not left suicide note.
“We cannot establish the reason why he took his life but the family members have hinted that the deceased had mental problems. The post mortem shall be conducted before we release the remains for burial,:” he said.
