Chemno launch distribution of food to 100 needy families in Huruma ward.
Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno on Friday launched distribution of food stuffs to the needy residents of Huruma ward.
The food relief support were donated by Vishva Builders and Sirikwa Quarry Ltd.
More than 100 needy families will benefit from the donation.
Speaking during the event, Chemno thanked Visha Construction for their generous effort to asist the needy families.
He also appealed to the landlords to engage their tenants on how they will settle their rents rather than forcing them out.
‘It’s not fair for landlords to force their tenants out, the situation we are is very difficult, no one anticipated the current situation we are in, please be humane,” He said.
The sentiments were echoed by Huruma MCA Peter Chomba who said “we already have cases of landlords harrasing their tenants, they need to dialogue with their tenants and make arragemets to cushion them during this difficult time of covid-19.”
County Executive Member for Finance CPA Julius Ruto and his Agriculture counterpart Samuel Yego flanked the Deputy Governor during the exercise.
Earlier on, Chemno had flagged off food for distribution to the Muslim community. Three pick ups and a canter truck were loaded with food that was to be distributed to faithful of three mosques.
The Food stuffs were donated by the county government of Uasin Gishu.
The food for the Muslim community was to assist families to also celebrate and merry as they mark the Eid-Ul-Fitr on Sunday and Monday.
