Mandago calls for enhanced adherence to Covid-19 regulations.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has called on residents to upscale the adherence of Corona Virus prevention and control measures.
He spoke, Sunday, at Uasin Gishu County Assembly when he met funeral committee of the late Huruma MCA Hon Peter Kiiru Chomba comprising Speaker David Kiplagat, Members of County Assembly and the family
“We have lately seen laxity in adherence to COVID-19 regulations. I have walked around town, people are no longer keen on keeping social distance, hand washing neither do we put on masks well”, said Mandago.
In the last three days, Uasin Gishu county has recorded 30 cases ( Thursday), 33 (Friday) and yesterday hit 74, the highest ever figure.
The Governor urged leaders to lead by example in keeping to basic prevention measures in addition to preaching the message of prevention and control to their constituents.
The Speaker David Kiplagat took the opportunity to announce that the county assembly have taken a 21 day recess and isolation following the confirmation that the late Huruma MCA succumbed to Corona Virus.
Speaking on behalf of the Chomba family, Ngugi Kiiru said that the family and the county administration who were planning for the funeral will announce new changes for MCA Chomba’s interment following the postmortem results.
“We thank Governor Mandago’s administration for his support throughout this difficult moments. He has been personally involved in all the arrangements. We confirm that postmortem results returned a positive for COVID-19 and this now affects our funeral arrangements going forward” , Ngugi said.
Also present during the meeting were Health Services CEC Everlyne Rotich, Deputy Speaker Hosea Lamai , Hon Josephat Lowoi ( Majority Leader), Gilbert Tenai Deputy Whip, Ramadhan Werambo ( Minority Whip) , Hon Francis Muiya ( Langas Ward) amongst others.
Honorable Chomba will be laid to rest on Wednesday 21st October 2020 at Kamkunji Cemetry.
