Nandi Finance CEC appears before adhoc committee over slow implementation of projects.

Nandi County Executive Committee Member for finance has appeared before the county assembly Ad-hoc committee over slow implimentations of projects especially under the Kenyan urban support program.

Alfred Lagat told the committee that the delay in completion of projects were as a result of heavy rains.

Lagat told the press after the meeting that the committee also wanted to know if the funds allocated to several projects were being utilised appropriately.


“I have been able to explain and I am happy to report that we are about between 60 and 70 percent complete. We had some few delays that were occasions by rains but they wrote to my department for extension but they will complete within the 30 days” said Lagat

Lagat said every coin being spent could be accounted for adding that the projects would be completed when the weather becomes favourable.

“I have also clarified to the committee that the funds are intact and payments have been commensurate to the amount of work that has been done by the contractors.” He said.

Lagat dismissed claims that Sh177 million from the World Bank for upgrading Kapsabet town had been misappropriated.

He said that despite kapsabet town receiving there chatter in 2018 there services was still domiciled within the county department of administration because of lack of IDEP which will be ready in 10 months for the municipality to be independent.

The Ad-hoc committee under the chairmanship of Kipkurui Chepkwony was elected to establish why it had taken too long for Nandi to spend ksh 177 million world bank money.

Also the county Secretary Dr. Francis Sang, County Executive Committee member for administration and e-goverment Teresa Morogo and respective chief officers appeared before the committee.
