Nandi County Keen to Operationalise Flagship Projects.
Nandi county has prioritized the flagship projects in this year’s budget
In the Fiscal Strategy Paper presented to the county assembly by finance CECM Hillary Serem,Nandi county Creameries,Mother and Baby Hospital in Kapsabet, Kipchoge stadium, Mosoriot textile and Chebonet Coffee Mills are among the key projects that will be completed in the 2024/25 financial year.
“Out of the 8.6 billion total budget estimates,7.4 billion is the shareable revenue from the national government while the deficit will be covered by expected grants of up to 600 million and the county own source revenue which is set to increase to 500 million”, Serem said.
Other winners in this year’s budget are the ward which are set to receive between between 37 and 41 million shillings each for development purposes.
” With the operationalization of ward equitable development act, the money will go straight to the grassroots to spur development. This is in line with the Bottom Up Transformative agenda by Kenya Kwanza government”, the finance CECM added.
Students from vulnerable background are also set to benefit from bursary allocation.
