Kapsabet half marathon to take place over the weekend.

A mega half marathon is anticipated to attract over 1,000 athletes in Nandi County over the weekend.

It’s set to kick off on 3rd March, 2024 Sunday morning at 7am in Nandi hills town and snaked through Kisumu-Eldoret highway to Kapsabet Showground.

The preparation is underway and facilitators of the race dubbed Kapsabet half marathon indicated that the budding athletes from North Rift have registered to participate.


“We want to grow more talents here in Nandi and across Kenya. It’s one of the races that gives an opportunity the local young runners to showcase their potential in the athletic industry,” said Judie Karei, the CITAM representative who is also a member of organising committee.

The event will be graced by international champions, Governor Stephen Sang among other athletic stakeholders.

Athletics is a cultural activity that is synonymous with Kalenjin community and Kenya Tourism board John Chirchir said that they are focused to supporting the talented youths through tournaments.

” Sports is also one of the economic initiatives in the society. We can exploit it to promote tourism sector and exhibit cultural practices and artifacts for our community,” he stated.
