BBI signature collection in Nandi goes on despite threats.
Nandi county commissioner Geoffrey Omoding has said that BBI progress of signature collection was progressing smoothly in the region.
Speaking to the media after appending his signature at the county headquarters, Omoding said at the end of this week they are expecting over 20000 people since so far more than 5000 people had signed since it started.
” We are doing great in Nandi so far, I want to congratulate the residents of Nandi for coming out and signing without fear, ” he said.
He lashed at those who are trying to intimidate people to stay away.
“I want to tell those who do not want to sign to either stay at home or to come out and sign. There are so many good things especially for the youths, ” said commissioner.
He drummed up support for document saying it promoted shared prosperity, address issues of the economy and inclusivity.
“This is the great thing for the people of this country especially for the people of Nandi who are also going to get some addition on Parliamentary seat. So we have all the reason to support the BBI,” he said.
Supporting the commissioner chairman Kalenjin council of elders Benjamin kitur, urged the leaders and especially in kalenjin region to join other people and not to stay away from government projects.
“In 2010 we as kalenjin did not support the constitution we were outside, so let us not be outside the government projects every time we have a referendum,” said Kitur.
