Fresh Landslide Strikes Elgeyo Marakwet; Casualties Reported in Keiyo North.

A new landslide has struck Kibendo village in Keiyo North, Elgeyo Marakwet County, amid ongoing heavy rains across the region. County Governor Wisley Rotich confirmed the incident, warning that several people may have been killed and others remain unaccounted for.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least two people lost their lives after a massive rock rolled down a slope and crashed into a house. Rescue operations are underway, involving county emergency responders, health workers, and local administrators who have been dispatched to the scene.

Governor Rotich urged residents living along the steep escarpments to relocate to safer areas, citing continued rainfall that has left the ground unstable. He expressed concern that further landslides could occur if the rains persist.

This latest tragedy follows a series of deadly mudslides in the county in recent weeks, which have caused widespread damage, loss of life, and displacement of families. Authorities are now focusing on evacuation and relief measures to minimize further harm.
