Uasin Gishu residents have been asked to stop speculation after the first case of corona virus was confirmed in the county on wednesday by the Ministry of Health.

Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee (CEC) member for health Everlyne Rotich asked the residents to be calm and give time to government to do its job on the same adding that there is wide spread speculation.

Rotich assured residents that there is no cause for alarm since the victim is currently in self-isolation after successfully completing 14-day quarantine.

Health Officials in Uasin Gishu County have started tracing individuals who might have come in contact with a patient that tested positive for Coronavirus in Eldoret town.

” We expect very few contacts as the patient has been in self quarantine at her house since she arrived from abroad” CEC said

She said the patient remains in isolation at her home for now as she doesn’t need to be in hospital noting that on the 14 days she was in quarantine, she had not shown any symptoms of the Coronavirus.

The patient will remain under the care of MTRH.

Details provided by the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa indicate that the patient who had stayed in the United Kingdom for two weeks arrived at the Eldoret International Airport from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on March 22 and went into self quarantine until Monday when she was assessed at the facility and her tests sent to Nairobi.
