Elgeyo Marakwet residents urged to plant trees in abundance during the ongoing rainy season.

Residents in Elgeyo Marakwet County have been urged to make good use of this rainy season to plant trees in abundance.

This is according to the head of conservancy in North Rift region Benjamin Kinyili who said that planting of trees would greatly help to conserve the environment.

Kinyili asked the residents to comply with government instructions of maintaining social distance when planting trees to avoid the spread of corona virus.

“I am calling upon each and every resident to practice Agro-forestry in their farms ” said Kinyili.

However, he said the tree planting would increase percentage of the forests in the county considering that Elgeyo Marakwet county has 37 percent forest cover.
