Five people feared dead as landslide hit Chesegon trading center.

Five people are feared dead after a terrible landslides occured at Chesegon trading centre boarder of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.

This follows heavy rains that pounded the area friday night and today.

Chesegon police post has been swept by foods and it is believed that there are some police officers trapped in.

Elgeyo Marakwet county senator Kipchumba Murkomen said that government departments have reached out and asked to respond quickly.

Mukomen added that many survivors need to be rescued and locals to be moved to safer places.

“A number of people are on top of tress calling for help” said Murkomen adding that few people who have been rescued are receiving treatment in the hospital.
