Mandago calls for affirmative action for marginalized areas.
Governor Jackson Mandago EGH has called on the government to consider adopting an affirmative action course especially in areas that have lagged behind in development.
Speaking during a fundariser in aid of Kapese mixed day secondary school in Lokichar, Turkana County, the Governor noted the need of the government to invest in school infrastructure to create a conducive environment for learners.
The Governor called on parents especially in marginalized areas to invest in education of their children.
“We want our children to be educated and compete for top jobs on offer rather than settling for lesser ones due to inadequate education. we want to raise our own engineers, pilots and contractors”. said Mandago
The Governor, who chairs the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) affirmed the region’s commitment and measures they have put in place especially in tertiary institutions by construction and establishment of technical institutions to enable those who would not be able to join universities to pursue their dreams.
“Our intention as a region is to create a workforce that is capable of taking up local projects so that there is money rotating and stimulating the economy,” said the Governor.
He called on members of County Assembly in Noreb counties to allocate more funds in education sector. “The only other entity that can bring development to villages is County Government.” added the governor.
