“I will complete all projects “,Governor Sang affirms.
County governor’s office in Nandi would be finally completed in the next 52 weeks after stalling for close to six years.
This came after the Ethics and Anti corruption Commission (EACC) gave an advisory to Governor Stephen Sang-led government to proceed with the construction of the project to leveraged the county from the shortage of offices that has lasted for nine years.
The county staff have been using a borrowed space in the county commissioner’s administration block, and upon which have been served a notice to quit in the next one year.
Speaking during the official handing over of the project to the new constructor, Governor Sang ascertained that the National Contraction Authority (NCA) has given out the recommendations to enhance architectural stability of the four-storey building that has been in the center of controversies over poor workmanship made by previous contractor.
“The projects was initiated by the previous regime and it has been under investigation. People have been blaming my administration for failing to allocate funds for its completion, and we couldn’t able to implement the projects until the EACC gave us an nod to award contract to a credible construction company to complete the rest of the works,” he said.
He urged the management of the company to consider the locals in various employment opportunities to benefit the jobless youth.
“We shall not expect you to get professionals from outside the county yet we have enough of them in the community. The construction materials including sand and timber are available, and we shall link you up with the locals who can supply them,” said Sang.
He, however, noted that the construction of training stadium including Nandi hills and Kipchoge Keino would resume before the end of this year.
