Youths in Nandi convert a WhatsApp group into a sacco to empower members.

WhatsApp group chats are now a common feature for WhatsApp users who want to organise a holiday, a meal or just keep in touch with friends who are miles apart but for Nandi youths it has turn out to be an empowerment avenue.

A section of Nandi youths  have created an awe inspiring tale by converting a WhatsApp group into a Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited aimed at empowering members economically.

The group known as Maskani WhatsApp Group was officially converted into Maskani 029 Sacco as a result of a deliberation held during the second annivesary of the WhatsApp group.

According to the Sacco interim Secretary Mr. Dickson Tanui the group members sought to deviate from the culture of politicking every now and then that has engulfed the social media platforms across the country.

“We want to have shares in the Sacco which can change our lives since we can earn dividends and access loans that can enable us venture into businesses.” said Mr. Tanui
