Nandi County Government has signed a collaboration agreement with Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) to promote youth business investment in the region.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang signed the deal with the youth fund chairperson Ronald Osumba in Kapsabet on Wednesday.
The agreement will ensure that youth that have been awarded tenders by the county receive financial support from the youth fund.
According to Governor Sang, 73 per cent of tenders allocated to youth owned enterprises had barely 20 per cent executed due to financial constraints adding that the agreement will see youth accessing more loans.
“We are committed to supporting youth economic empowerment. We have increased allocation of tenders to youth owned enterprises from 30 per cent to 50 per cent,” said the governor.
YEDF chairperson said so far Sh46.6 million to 5,594 youth in the county who were now endowed carry out projects they have been assigned.
“The collaboration provides a framework of cooperation between youth fund and the county government of Nandi and will ensure to affordable finance, capacity building as well as development of youth SACCOs in the region,” said Osumba.
He further lauded the agreement saying it reaffirmed the youth fund’s commitment to uplifting the lives of young people through job creation.
“The collaboration agreement that we are signing today reaffirms our commitment to support youth Economic empowerment in the county” osumba remarked.
