Youth advised to invest as they receive Sh23 million.
Youth groups in Chesumei sub-county in Nandi have received a total Sh23 million from Uwezo Fund and NG-CDF to facilitate their business investments.
The funds under youth empowerment program is aimed at promoting self employment to the many youths in the region.
Speaking during the exercise in Chesumei, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Youth Julius Korir said empowered youth were crucial in promoting development in the country.
“Youths form part of the most active workforce in both the formal and informal sector. I want to congratulate Chesumei members of Parliament Wilson Kogo in ensuring that this program is conducted for the benefits of our youths” Said Korir.
Korir said Government had made efforts aimed at promoting inclusivity and advised youth to take advantage of such support.
” In order to address the diverse social- Economic needs of our youth, we have established centers that provide youth- friendly services. The centers provide mentorship, vocational and entrepreneurial developments skills among other services” He Said.
Chesumei MP Wilson Kogo asked youth to apply for loans and start small businesses to generate their own income.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei was also at the event together with Tindiret Member of Parliament Julius Meli who lauded the program.
