Watch Eldoret City Marathon on TV, there will be spectators- Mandago.

Sports lovers in Uasin Gishu county have been asked to follow the Eldoret City Marathon live on TV.

Governor Jackson Mandago EGH says no spectators will be allowed during the Marathon that will be held on Sunday.

Speaking after a tree planting exercise at the Eldoret Arboretum, Mandago said all preparations for the event – which is the biggest Marathon in Africa are complete.


“The Marathon shall be run while respecting all Covid-19 protocols and this is why no spectators will be allowed,” the Governor who is the patron of the Marathon said.

“We don’t want people to congest while watching the race. We ask that you watch on TV as KTN shall be streaming it live,” he added.

The Eldoret City Marathon which will be the third edition has made two major improvements – there will be a debut of electronic timing as new being among the world majors.

“With electronic timing, it means the time that our athletes will post in the race is recognized internationally,” Mandago said.

Eldoret City Marathon awards the first 20 athletes in the main race with winners getting a whopping Ksh3.5 million.

There is also a fan race for the 5kms.

County Executive Members’ for Health Dr. Everlyne Rotich and her Education counterpart Joseph Kurgat, Chief Officers’ for water Simion Kemei and Joseph Maritim for Youth affairs were in attendance.
