Unite ahead of referendum, clergy tells Kenyans.
A top Anglican clergy has asked Kenyans to promote unity ahead of referendum.
Anglican Church of Kenya Bishop Paul Korir said referendum was inevitable since it had been passed by the National Assembly and was likely to go through in the senate.
Bishop Korir said Kenyans should ensure that the referendum does not divide them along different ethnic groups and political alignments.
“It is now evident that we are heading to referendum and we on behalf of the church we want to be very categorical and ask Kenyans to build bridges of unity and not divided,” said Korir.
He said since Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was initiated and popularized, many Kenyans have been divided, noting that it was time to build one nation.
“On behalf of the church to prepare ourselves to go for referendum as united nation. Everyone has a Democratic right to vote yes or no,” he said.
He called upon the IEBC to prepare and give a better chance to Kenyans to exercise their Democratic right.
He also called upon the locals to follow Covid-19 protocols and ensure that they are safe from the pandemic.
