Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno on Monday received donations of assorted food stuff and household items from New Yako Suppermarket.
The donations included Water, juice, Ndengu, Maize flour, Baking flour, Sugar, Bar Soaps, Salt, Tea leaves and Rice among others
Speaking while receiving the donations at the county headquarters, Chemno thanked New Yako suppermarkets for the donations.
The DG said most people have been affected during this Coronavirus pandemic and urged residents to continue adhering to the measures put in place by the government aimed at curbing the spread of the Virus.
“I urge resident to be cautious with those who visited the county, avoid crowded places and stay home.” He said
”I assure Yako partners that the food will be distributed to the most deserving in the society,” he added.
On his part County Executive Member for Health Everlyne Rotich said the numbers of those who are positive with the virus are increasing at a worrying rate.
“The three cases we have are associated with truck drivers and they have already have the contact with the people in the county, this is very serious issues, if it will continue that way, there will be community transmission and we are really working on containing it,” the CeC said.
She also thanked the supermaret and different partners for the support even as she called for others to come in and provide their support.
Director New Yako Supermarket Anil Haria acknowledged the county for working hard to flatten the curve.
“In a small effort, we have come in to to offer a hand of help to the vulnerable groups. The initiative is to help the needy this is the time,” he added.
