Uasin gishu County Assembly on Wednesday approved the nomination of Mr. Edwin Bett to the position of County Secretary.
This was done in a special sitting chaired by speaker David Kiplagat.
Speaking while moving the motion, David Sing’oei the Chief Whip and Ngenyilel Ward MCA said after they conducted the interviews, the committee on appointment found him suitable for the job.
“Having conducted the approval hearing for the nominee pursuit to section 9 (2) of the Public Appointments of county Assembly Approval Act of 2017 and standing order 42(2) the committee found Mr Edwin Kimutai Bett suitable for the position of county secretary,” said the Chief Whip.
This clears the way for Governor Jackson Mandago to appoint him as the second County Secretary.
“Having considered the nominee curriculum vitae, filled questionnaire and oral submissions during an oral hearing, the committee observed that the nominee had knowledge of public service, met all requirements in terms of academic qualifications and work experience and that he is competent and, therefore, experienced to hold the office,” he added.
Bett has been the acting county secretary following the appointment of former County Secretary Peter Leley by the national government to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee as chief executive officer.
