Troubled CEC says his impeachment was in bad faith.
Impeached Finance County Executive Committee member has accused Nandi County Assembly of acting in bad faith and without evidence in ousting him.
Alfred Lagat said the allegations used to impeach him fell short of the standards adding that the defense he has presented will exonerate him.
Lagat said he had attended over ninety percent of the summons and that the assembly had misled the public.
“I have explained that I attended 22 out of 25 summons made. I only missed three and there are explanations for that,” said Lagat.
The county executive said the claims that he had failed to clear pending bills was innacurate.
” the county treasury has payment plans to settle all pending bills. The payment plans has since been shared with the national treasury and the controller of budget. We are indeed in receipt of communication from the national treasury acknowledging adherence to our above referred payment plans.” Lagat responded.
Lagat said that under his leadership, the county had increased it’s local revenue and many pending bills cleared.
He stated that there were pending bills that had to be confirmed by the relevant authorities before a nod is given for payment.
