World 10,000m bronze medallist Agnes Tirop and World 10,000m Under-20 champion Rhonex Kipruto won the women’s and men’s 10km senior races in the 14th edition of Tuskys Wareng Cross Country .
The duo, who emerged winners of the 10 kilometers senior women and men’s races respectively, will each drive home a brand new Mazda Demio car.
Tirop, who trains in Iten, said she was happy to have won a vehicle; a unique reward for winning a race.
“I’m happy I won the race which was competitive. I had done good preparations since I knew it was going to be tough,” said Tirop.
Tirop also said that she is looking forward to being selected in the Kenyan team for the World Cross Country Championships next year.

In the men’s category, Kipruto proved too good for the rich field when he crossed the line in 29:38:1 ahead of Davies Kimeli who clocked 29:55.9 while Shadrack Kimutai finished third in 30:07:3.
World 5,000m Under-20 champion Beatrice Chebet won the 6km junior race in 20:20:53 ahead of World 1,500m Under-18 bronze medallist Edina Jebitok who clocked 20:38:23 while Emmaculate Jepkurui was third in 20:39:91.
“I’m looking forward to a good season, I will be focusing on the World Cross Country Championships trials in February where I want to win gold in the junior category,” said the Londiani-based athlete.
In the men’s 8km junior category, Michael Kibet emerged the winner in 23:51:1 ahead of Bravin Kosgei who clocked 24:01:2 while Charles Kakuri came third in 24:03:4.
The 14th edition of the Tuskys Wareng Cross Country championships took place at the Huruma grounds in Eldoret town.
The race sponsored mainly by the Tuskys supermarkets, has always attracted the best talents in the region.
