Three people have died and over 5 others admitted to hospital after a malaria outbreak in Elgeyo Marakwet County
The deceased are one child and two adults from Arror.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Timothy Kilimo said the three – one child and two men – passed on while receiving treatment at a local clinic.
The administrator added that the said clinic has witnessed an increase in the number of patients with malaria-like symptoms in the recent past.
The death of the three come barely a day after a Sing’ore girls high school student died on saturday evening at Iten county referral hospital.
Three other students from the same school, who are also in form one were rushed to the hospital with malaria related symptoms at the weekend and are still admitted.
Kilimo appealed to the locals not to ignore any malaria-like symptoms, further urging them to seek medical help immediately.
