Uasingishu residents following the proceedings at county hall

The County Government of Uasin Gishu, department of Finance and Economic Planning on Monday, held a #Public participation across all the wards on the 2017/2018 FY Budget Estimates.
The county absorption rate on cumulative expenditure for the year 2015/2016 overall was at 86% for both recurrent and development expenditure while the overall expenditure for the half year July 2016-December 2017 stands at 11% for development and 36% for recurrent expenditure.
The public raised concerns about the need to improve revenue collection methods in order to hit the set target for the year and urged the county to put more focus on Agriculture, trade and sports.
Moreover, the county government representatives were urged by the public participants to consider gender in terms of capacity building and sports for women and the youths at large
The exercise was chaired by the Chief Officer in charge of Economic Planning Ms. Millicent Okonjo who responded to the concerns raised by the participants in the forum and outlined some of the achievements of the county government stating the more than 582 #ECDE classrooms constructed among other projects.

She urged the youth who attended the meeting in large numbers to organise themselves into groups in order to apply for tenders and avail themselves during the CIDP formulation exercise for the next phase  of devolution.

Youths were not left behind as they were given chance to give their view as far as county budget FY 2017/2018 is concerned.

The County budget estimates for 2017/2018 FY totalled to 7.399 B with recurrent and development expenditure estimated at 5,079,285,209 and 2,320,498,540 respectively.
