Soy MP issues over 1000 facemasks and sanitizers to Bodaboda operators in his constituency.

Soy Member of Parliament in Uasin Gishu County Caleb Kositany has distributed over 1000 masks and sanitizers to 930 bodaboda operators within his constituency.

Speaking during the exercise, Kositany said that the sanitizers which were distributed to every bodaboda group within the constituency, will last them over a month adding that he purchased the protective gears in partnership with Kenya Pipeline Company foundation adding that the masks and sanitizers are all locally made.

“I chose to give these masks and sanitizers to the bodaboda operators because we know that the means of transport to 80 percent of the population in Soy and even in the entire country is bodaboda. Bodaboda operators interact with so many people in a day and they are vulnerable to the virus” he said

The legislator called upon every person who gets the protective gears, to target the bodaboda and matatu operators since it is the mode of transport to majority of people.

The MP applauds the government of Kenya for giving them the sanitizers though the Kenya Pipeline Cooperation.

“The sanitizers are free from the Government of Kenya, and I want to appreciate the efforts it has put in compating the Covid-19 pandemic” He said.

At the same time, he warned those who have been taken in quarantine to observe the days they have been quarantined for, “do not escape because even if you escape, the police and wananchi will get you” Kositany said.

“We appeal to Kenyans to help the government in this. Those who escape have no difference with criminals. Please report them to the police. Use your democratic duty, arrest the person and take them to quarantine centre” the MP lamented

Kositany asked the Government to waive any fee for manufacturers to be registered so long as they are manufacturing masks which its standard is required so that the country can have as many masks as possible.
