Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei is among Jubilee legislators who have written protest letters to the Registrar of Political Parties on plans to change the party’s National Management Committee(NMC) officials.
This follows a Gazette Notice dated 6th April over alleged intentions by the party to change its National Management Committee officials.
Cherargei, who doubles up as the Chairperson of the Senate’s Justice, legal affairs and human rights committee said there was no meeting convened by the party’s National Executive Committee(NEC) to resolve on the said changes.
“My attention has been drawn to your Gazette Notice No. 3084 dated 6th April, 2020. I write to protest against the said notice or and intended changes. There has not been a meeting of the National Delegates convention, National Governing council and the National Executive committee or any party organ since the last general election except one meeting of the Parliamentary Group approximately 3 years ago, “read Cherargei’s protest letter.
The legislator asked the Registrar of Political Parties to put on hold any steps in regards to the said changes.
The NMC is in charge of the day-to-day management of the party and sits more frequently than the National Executive Committee or the National Delegates Conference to make urgent and pressing decisions.
