Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei warns school heads against locking out leaners over lack of school fees.
He said that the students has right to access education and the government supports learning through capitation to achieve equality and affordability of education in Kenya.
Speaking at ACK Tulwo Girls Secondary School during thanks giving ceremony, Senator Cherargei said that the Government through Ministry of education has set aside funds to benefit learners from both boarding and day Schools.
” The president has given orders that no student will be send back home because of school fees because the government has released money for tuition. I am also aware that some day schools are collecting money from parents for food that is illegal. We as the leaders our priority is that our school going children get enough time to study without the fear of being send away because of fees”. He said
Cherargei called on local Administration to mob out learners who have failed to report to School for Secondary Education.
” There are student who were supposed to join form one yet they have not, here in Nandi around 1975 who have not join. I am calling upon the chiefs, nyumba kumi and all the administration to track them. We need to have a 100% transition.” He said
President’s aide Farouk Kibet warned Kenyans fond of attacking Heads after the release of National Examinations saying the habit should be condemned by all means terming since it was a disaster to the teaching fraternity.
” I want condemn the act of some parents who went ahead and attack head teachers in schools after getting low results. We should instead motivate our teachers and find out where the problem is for a better future of our students. ” He stated.
