The Robert Kimeli Tournament came to a close on Saturday with Stima FC winning the trophy.
The two-day tournament at Ol’Lessos Primary School grounds saw Red Tigers conceding defeat after keben, kapnyebis loss.
The event closed with the awarding of the winner and other contestants with a pledge from sponsor and leaders to support youth in sports.
Led by the tournament patron Robert Misoi, leaders said youth had demonstrated potential bon sporting activities and deserved support.
“I decided to come up with this foundation so that our youths can be busy and nature there talents. Most of our youths are very talented but doesn’t have enough support to develop and upgrade there talents.” Said Misoi.
He said that he is ready to come up with different programs that will ensure that all the youths are engaged positively rather than being idle.
Supporting the idea, Allan Kosgei and Brian Lel congratulated Misoi saying that the youths should make use of their talents so that they can be uplifted through talents.
“We want leaders who are able to help the youths and empower them. Especially when it comes to sports it is important and even healthy since we exercise.” Said Allan.
Allan urged urged leaders across the county to nature talents since most youths are talented but doesn’t have support to show there talents.
They said that sports is a way to bring youths together and share ideas on various issues.
“We have many youths who are engaged in drugs and other illegal activities but its high time we build our future by engaging through such empowement.” Said Brian lel.
