Renovation of Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret to be completed within 7 months—CS Amina.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has assured residents that the construction of Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret will commence immediately and will be completed in the next 7 months.
Speaking after inspecting the stadium which had stalled for the last eight years, the CS said that the contractors will be on the site anytime soon to commence the construction.
“I have come to see how much work has been done and what need to be done to complete it in good time. I promise that the construction of the facility will be completed as soon as possible. Give us 6 to 7 months and it will be done and we are hoping that the next time we are having a function in Eldoret, we can have it here” CS said
The CS was accompanied by the Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno who asked the ministry to complete the construction in time so that the athletes can use it in training for the preparation for the Tokyo Olympics.
He said the athletes have suffered due to lack of facility due to sluggish renovation at Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
“Our young men and women have been utilizing this stadium in training and since contractor came on site it became a no-go zone. We wish that the work to begin and only to end when they are handing over” DG said
He added that the athletes are likely to miss out in the next Olympics if the stadium is not completed in time adding that they need good facility for training.
