Over 2,700 youth to secure jobs as Nandi County launch Kazi Mtaani program.

Over 2,700 youths are set to benefit from the National Hygiene Program dubbed Kazi Mtaani launched by Nandi County Secretary Francis Sang.

The recruitment targeted youth from informal settlements in Kapsabet town, and will work on two cohorts for six months.

The youth are from Tilalwo (390), Kamatargui (430), Kokwet (330), Namgoi (390), East View (420), Kichinjio (420) and Kunurter (330).


“Each cohort consisting of 1,350 youths will work for 11 days and will be paid promptly,” Mr Sang said during the launch.

Sang cautioned youth against misusing the money and advised them to save and invest in business.

He added that the program was also essential non improving cleanliness of the environment.

County Commissioner Kutswa Olaka said the recruitment was done through a fair and transparent process.

“I urge youths to report to work in time and follow guidelines to ensure that the program becomes a success,” said Mr Olaka.

He said the youth will engage in tree planting, cleaning of public spaces, waste management and unblocking of drainage system among others.

He said the program will cushion youth from the adverse financial consequences as a result not Covid-19 pandemic.
