Over 100 families in Kesses Sub County have received food and non-food items from the from the area MP Dr. Swrup Mishra to cushion them from suffering caused by floods.
According to MP Mishra personal assistant Kiptanui Khalwale, the families mostly from Birunda and Pranga locations received bags of rice, fortified flour and cooking oil each among other non-food items.
“We have distributed food and non-food items to all affected families in the area. This will reduce suffering among them,” he said adding that they would add more relief food depending on the situation and number of affected families.
He also appealed to people living in flood prone areas to move to safer grounds to avoid loss of properties and lives.
The floods have caused great damage to the locals which are now counting loses because their crops and farm equipment have either been swept away or destroyed by the floods.
According to Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna, floods and landslides caused by heavy rain in Kenya have killed nearly 200 people, displaced over 100,000.
