Nandi leaders have a right to ask questions on developments— KUPPET secretary Rotich.
Nandi Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Executive Secretary Paul Rotich claimed that Nandi County is locked out from getting national government development resources.
He said capital projects including roads have not been completed for the past ten years since they were earmarked for construction under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
Among the stalled projects are Chepterit-Kaiboi road, Moi University – Chepterit, Kobere-Timboroa among others.
Following the recent fierce clash between CS for transport and infrustracture Kipchumba and the local leaders over the delay, Mr Rotich accused CS for what he claimed that he denies the locals to enjoy taxes the pay to the government.
“The leaders represent the interests of the taxpayers. Senator Samson Cherargei and Women Rep Cynthia Muge had a point asking for development for their people and CS Murkomen failed to give substantive answer, and instead, he critisized leaders for inciting the residents against the government,” he stated.
He pointed out shortage of money allocated to infrustractural development for the 2023/24 financial year and urged the committee for the national assembly on the projects needed to be completed urgently.
“We have been given slightly over Sh. 60 Million but it’s not enough to complete the existing projects. Other Counties recieve up to Sh. 500 Million, what’s not happening with Nandi? He Posed.
Mr Rotich called upon President Ruto intervene and ensure that the region is considered in the implementation national government projects.
