Nandi hills MCA starts teenage pregnancy, anti-drug abuse awareness campaign.

A ward representative has started an initiative to sensitize school going children on the dangers of early marriage, drug abuse and premarital sex.

Nandi Hills MCA Gideon Koech said he started the program to salvage children from misinformed cations that were likely to jeopardize their future.
Speaking at Kipsebwo location during one of the awareness forum,
Koech expressed optimism that program would yield fruits.

“When schools were closed last year we lost a considerable number of children to early marriages, pregnancies and boys getting to early child labour,” said Koech.


He said that he will work with provincial administration, teachers and parents to ensure that they follow covid protocols as they educate the students.

“I urge all the stake holders, especially the parents to nurture the children so that as we open the school next term we have all the students going back to school,” he said.

His counterpart from Uasin gishu Julius Sang said supported the idea for a better generation.

According to Philomena Tero,a nurse said the initiative will help as a community to be educated on issues facing them.

“I thank the parents for allowing the children to come and learn because we want a better generation,” she said.
