NANDI: EACC Vice-chairperson Sophia Lepuchirit leads Anti-Corruption flag off ceremony.

Ethics and anti corruption commission (EACC) have put measures to mitigate the risk of mismanagement of public resources and corruption in response to the pandemic.

Speaking during official launch of activities in commemoration of the international Anti corruption day which will be held on 9th December in Nandi county 2020, Vice chairperson Sophia Lepuchirit said that the EACC has rationalized its strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic so as to tackle the challenge of corruption.

“To tackle the challenge of corruption we will firstly enhance law enforcement activities by undertaking inquiries into the reported incidences of corruption and unethical conduct we will heightened gathering and sharing of information with relevant stakeholders and also monitor utilization of public funds,” said Lepuchirit.

She said as a commission they have recovered public assets that had been taken and returned to the government.

“So far we have recovered billions of shillings everywhere across the country and we expect more,” she said.

The event was a flag off ceremony held to kick off a one-week series of events  ahead of the International Anti- corruption Day to be held on 9th December 2020.

Supporting the EACC county commissioner Geoffrey Omoding and deputy governor Yulita mitei, said they will come up together fight corruption since it brings down development and economy of the country.

“All of us have a duty to fight corruption in this country since it has derail the development in the country,” said mitei.

The deputy governor also said that the reason why they have not completed the governors building that had been constructed because it was under investigation.
