Nandi County on shutdown over Coronavirus.

The Source of Champions, Nandi County, has ordered all athletics training camps closed and suspended entry of foreign athletes for an indefinite period.

Governor Stephen Sang announced the drastic measures to curb a possible spread of Coronavirus.

Sang has also barred members of the public from visiting county government offices for the next 30 days.

“The public is advised to use our toll-free number 1548 to access government services,” Sang directed in a circular.

The County Chief also said bodaboda operators were prohibited from carrying more than one passenger.

Open air markets and Hawking of food and fruits outside designated markets has also been suspended.

At the same time, the county directed hotels and guest houses to submit details of foreign visitors to the health department.

Other preventive measures include the closing of gymnasiums, night clubs and suspension of weddings.

Sang said two isolation centres had been set aside in Nandi Hills County Hospital and Kapsabet County Referral Hospital to handle cases of infections if reported.

“Two ambulances have been exclusively set aside for Covid-19 emergency response evacuation,” the county indicated.

The Governor asked locals to exercise hygiene by washing their hands with soap and water and avoid public gatherings.

He also said he had directed all departments to avail their vehicles to the health department for use in monitoring and response.
