Nandi County Assembly will be convened every Wednesday, Speaker Joshua Kiptoo has confirmed.
Speaking to the media after session on Thursday the speaker said the decision to hold the assembly meetings once a week was a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19 and to discuss how they will conduct public participations on 2020/2021 financial budget.
“Today’s meeting focused more on financial budget. It is unfortunate that public participation will be heard to be implemented but we shall find other ways of engaging the public,” the speaker said.
The speaker disclosed that they discussed about the 2020/2021 financial budget and issues affecting the county including mudslides and prevention of coronavirus.
“We had a session where half of the members attended. We shall be meeting every Wednesday,” said Kiptoo
The speaker urged the Government to help people facing challenges during this season of heavy rains.
