Nandi County Assembly suspend sittings after MCA tests positive for Covid-19.
A Member of the County Assembly (MCA) of Nandi has tested positive for Covid-19 prompting the assembly to suspend planned sittings.
The Ward Representative tested positive at the time that the assembly was set to resume sittings in the course of the week.
Speaker Joshua Kiptoo said precautions were being taken including suspension of sittings and closing the assembly for fumigation.
Mr Kiptoo also said mass testing not all MCAs and staff was scheduled for August 25.
“Upon conclusion of the testing, we shall give a way forward regarding the resumption of session,” said Kiptoo.
He added, ” In the meantime, honourable members and staff are encouraged to continue observing the Ministry of Health guidelines on prevention of the spread of the virus, wearing masks, maintaining social distance and regular hand washing to curb the spread of the virus.”
Nandi County Assembly had been on recess from July 16, 2020 and was scheduled to resume sittings on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
