Nandi County Assembly joins other forty assemblies in the race to create a ward fund.

Nandi County Assembly unanimously passed a motion creating a ward development fund.

The motion was sponsored by Isaac Mosbei who lauded his colleagues for the nod saying the bill was long overdue.

“By five in the morning we receive electorates knocking on our doors and the option is to forward their grievances to the governor who at that time may have appropriated all the funds to other projects. Let the people in the ward be the decision makers pertaining the immediate needs with the ward fund at their disposal”, said Mosbei.

His colleagues in the county assembly led by Kosirai Ward MCA Sarah Rubety are confident that every corned of Nandi will feel the intended impact of the devolution.

“We urged the governor to move with speed to assent to the bill to become a law for the benefit of the common mwananchi”, she added .

However,Mosbei who is the North Rift Representative of County Assemblies Forum challenged Parliament to ammend the law to ensure that the ward fund is in tandem with the constitution of Kenya.

The national assembly is so concerned with ammending the constitution to accommodate the Constituency Development fund and forgetting that the ward is the most important unit of administration . We are asking them to remember the ward as they legalize the outlawed CDF”, said Mosbei.

Nandi County joins other forty counties which have passed a law seeking to create a ward fund but awaits the national assembly to entrench it in the law through an amendment.
