More than 400 persons living with disabilities have received food donations from National Government Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Equity bank.
National Government Chamber of Commerce Nandi County chapter chairperson Samuel Seronei said attention was given to such persons because they were more vulnerable to the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Majority of the persons with disabilities have suffered loses as their businesses close due to the effects of the pandemic.
Seronei said the chamber was also helping such persons to boost their declining business as the pandemic persists.
He also said the people whose businesses have suffered loses due to Covid-19 should register with the chamber to receive help.
“I want to urge all traders to register with us so as to get the money we have set aside for such causes. This also applied to those who are servicing loans,” said Seronei.
County Executive Committee Member for trade Jacob Tanui welcomed the help from the chamber of commerce and added that the county government will also assist people where possible.
County Officer in charge of social welfare Scolastica Tuwei applauded the chamber of commerce’s intervention terming it timely.
