Nandi: Assembly wants county officials suspended over misuse of Covid-19 funds.
Nandi County Assembly is pushing for suspension and investigation of four county officials suspected of being involved in the alleged misuse of funds meant to fight Covid-19 in the devolved unit.
The motion moved by Nominated ward representative Teresa Maiyo recommends suspension and investigation of County Executive Members (CECs) Ruth Koech (health) and Alfred Lagat (finance). Also mentioned in the motion are county officers Meshack Malakwen (finance) and Paul Langat (medical services).
In the motion, Mrs Koech and Paul Lagat are recommended for suspension over “Missing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, non-functionality of oxygen plants and for lack of accountability of Covid-19 emergency funds.
The assembly has also recommended for suspension and investigation of Alfred Lagat over questionable expenditure of Covid-19 funds and failing to respect the county assembly.
Malakwen on his part has been recommended for suspension over questionable expenditure of funds.
