Nandi County assembly has announced plans to go for a short recess to allow MCAs and staff to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Speaker Joshua Kiptoo said the recess will also allow health officials to fumigate the premises against the viral disease.
Speaking at the County Assembly, Kiptoo said health officials had also been invited to sensitize MCAs and staff on the disease.
“We invite them today so that they can educate our honorable members about vaccination and covid disease in general,” said Kiptoo
Tindiret Member of County assembly who is also secretary general county assembly forum said there was need to sensitize members to cub the spread of the disease.
“We want want to take this opportunity to encourage every Kenyan to turn up to get vaccinated especially those who are old as we have been advised by the ministry of health,” said Chepkwony.
He called upon the county assembly members across the country and all leaders to get the covid vaccine jab since they interact more with the public.
” I call out to all leaders in this country to take lead to be able to champion because we as leaders wherever we do wherever we speak have an effect on how the population will react to such issues about vaccination,” he said.
According to the director of health David Bungei, the team will campaign and sensitize in order to stop the disease and ensure that they are passing the right information about the vaccines.
“We recognize the fact that the county assembly members plays a critical role because ethey interact with the public and can pass correct information to them,” he said.
Meanwhile the assembly speaker received his covid-19 jab with reports indicating that.about 3,400 individuals.who are either frontline workers or persons above the age of 58.
