Nandi Anglican Church leaders condemn Kondele Sunday chaos, call for investigation.

Anglican Church leaders in Nandi have called upon the government to take legal action against political leaders causing unrest ahead next of next year’s election.

Led by Bishop Paul Korir for the ACK diocese of Nandi, they demanded for the arrest of the persons involved in the incitement the youth that led to attacking of Deputy president William Ruto’s entourage in Kisumu.

They pointed accusing fingers to security department for what was meted to the second-in-command in his political campaigns in Kondele claiming that the police failed to forestall the skirmishes ahead of Dp’s arrival to the scene.


“The police responds on the matter indicating that they had received the intelligence report on the looming attack and they didn’t swang to action by going for the perpetrators, but all is neither here nor there concerning security laxity in the country,” he stated.

Speaking to the journalists on Thursday at St Barnabas, Kapsabet, they claimed that the Kondele incident is a precursor to the imminent chaos through out the blistering political campaigns among the presidential candidates, thus urged the concern institutions to intervene and bring political sobriety in the country.

Bishop Korir, who is also the chair person to the peace committee in the region, he sent a message to the police and  National Cohesion  and Intergration commission (NCIC) to steadfastly bring the insecurity perpetrators to books to tame leaders fanning tribal clashes in the country.

“We have not seen the concern authorities raising above and accordingly act upon the current unfortunate incidents taking place. Laikipia, West Pokot, Baringo and Kisumu are among the volatile regions have recorded an upsurge of insecurity, and we are urging the government to take control of the earmarked areas to ensure peace prevail ahead of general election,” he stated.

He further claimed the police should be vigilant to any security tendencies and proactively take security measures seriously for every political aspirants.

” We cannot sit watching the occurrence in the country and even the security apparatus turning to be alarmists, warning politicians against moving around due to likelihood of sparking fracas. These would undermined the democratic freadom for everyone to move from one place to another,” he stated.
