Nandi County Government has revoked licenses of 10 bars whose proprietors defied government directive to close all social joints owing to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The operstors of the drinking joints were also arrested and are expected to be prosecuted in court.
The affected joints include four in Mosop subcounty, two in Nandi Hills town, three in Kapsabet town and one in Emgwen subcounty.
County Secretary Francis Sang condemned illegal operations at the closed joints saying it demonstrated the laxity of some greedy traders to help the country in curbing the spread of Coronavirus.
“We have also warned against violating the directive that they should carry only one passenger. If they are found to be on the wrong, they will face severe consequences,” Said Sang.
Sang further asked residents to maintain good hygiene to prevent them from getting exposed to the virus.
