More stall projects to be completed in Nandi, Says CS Kipchumba Murkomen.
The uncompleted capital projects delayed during President Uhuru Kenyatta administrations are set to begin in Nandi County this month.
According to Transport and infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, he urged the residents that contractors have already been replaced and they are set to start working on the stalled projects.
Speaking in Nandi County where he attended a church function on Sunday at St John Catholic Church, Murkomen blamed the senior government officials under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration frustrated the implementation of the capital projects in President William Ruto’s political bastion.
He said 286km of roads earmarked to be constructed by the government were left in various completion levels due to lack of funds and political will.
“The residents suffered most inten years under the former regime and simply for supporting President William Ruto. It was a deliberate plot to humiliate and undermine Dr Ruto’s presidential campaigns,” he stated.
Some of the contractors were not paid and they are among the CS Murkomen who said that the government owes them sh. 910 Billion pending bills.
Cs Murkomen, who was hosted by Governor Stephen Sang among other local leaders, assured the residents that projects will be executed starting next month.
Among the stalled include Nandi Hills/Emaki/Moi university high way, Baraton/Chepterwai road,Timboroa/Kobere market, Denja/Chepterwai/Kamwega road, and Sh 7.2 billion Keben water dam projects that cold supply water in both Kapsabet and Nandi hills towns.
Others include Koitalel Samoei University, Mother and Baby Hospital wingand Kapsabet County referral hospital.
“President William Ruto has now directed the Cabinet secretaries to review all stalled projects in the country and new contractors will begin to work,” he stated.

Among the key projects which stalled in the Kenyatta administration and which the local community wants done included the Sh. 2.5 billion County Referral Hospital for Mother and Baby Child Kapsabet.
Governor Sang Nandi said that the county government is seeking about sh.2.5 billion to have the mother and Baby hospital completed and fully equipped with new machines.
“The project stalled in 2019 after being commissioned by Dr. Ruto, then the deputy president and it is about 75% completion according to public works,” he stated
